Instagram is rolling out ads to Reels : Reports

Instagram new Reels ads feature

Key Specifications

  • Instagram is rolling out Reels ads feature soon.
  • Firstly, this feature will roll out in selected countries like India, Brazil, Germany, and Australia.
  • Viewers can like, comment as well as share these Reels ads.

Social Media tech giant Instagram is planning to show ads in the format of the reels. Now, this picture-sharing platform will show ‘Reels’. Before this, the tech giant rolled out ads in Instagram Story.

However, unlike the Instagram Story advertisements, people can like, comment, save and share the ads in the Reels.

Instagram has tested advertisements between Reels in the selected countries that include India, Brazil, Germany, and Australia. These ads will be shown in the middle of regular content shared by users.

As per Instagram:

“After testing in select countries, today we’re launching Reels ads to the world. Reels is the best place on Instagram to reach people who don’t follow you and a growing global stage where brands and creators can be discovered by anyone. These ads will help businesses reach greater audiences, allowing people to discover inspiring new content from brands and creators.”

Just like regular Reels content, these ads will loop and can be up to 30 seconds long. These Reels stories will look similar to the ones you see in stories. These Reels Stories will come with a “Shop Now” button.
Facebook is planning to roll out custom sticker advertisements. There are reports that the company will begin testing sticker advertisements with a handful of creators and advertising partners in the coming weeks.
These stickers will permit makers to adapt their Accounts as they will get a cut of revenue from sales by them.
Reels ads will appear at all the places where people can access them. This includes the Reels tab, Reels in Stories, Reels in Explore, and Reels in your feed.

Instagram Chief Operating Officer – Justin Osofsky said:

“We see Reels as a great way for people to discover new content on Instagram, and so ads are a natural fit. Brands of all sizes can take advantage of this new creative format in an environment where people are already being entertained.”

Instagram is also providing some controls to the viewers on the Reels ads they see. If people see an ad they don’t like, they can skip the ad, or tap the menu on the post to hide or report it.
