Apart from Windows 10 users, a free upgrade is available for those who are running Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. However, these free upgrades will not apply to the users who run Windows 8.

The publication says users running Windows 8 on their personal computers and desktops will first have to update their devices to Windows 8.1. In doing so, they will be eligible to upgrade their devices to Windows 11 for free.

Microsoft is going to launch a special event on June 24. We expect that Microsoft will launch its new operating system Windows 11 that day. However, the company has not revealed anything about the upcoming event.

But the company agrees that they are going to launch something new that day from its official Windows handle on Twitter. This indicates that Windows 11 is landing.

However, this is not the first time. The company ran a similar free upgrade program for Windows 10. The aim of such a program is to migrate more and more users to the latest Windows operating system

The folks at XDA-Developers have spotted some product configuration keys in the build with the title of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. This gave a strong hint that Windows 11 upgrade is free for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users.

According to Microsoft, currently, there are 3 billion devices that are running on Windows 10. Their task is to move a huge number of devices to the upgraded version.

What’s new in Windows 11?

Windows 11 Operating system has some neat design enhancements. The changes include the Start Menu that also gets brand new visuals. Taskbar look has been changed. Microsoft also modernized the Shell to bring modern icons. These icons have subtle 3D finishes.

Talking about the features, it works similarly to Windows 10. The company has not disclosed the features of the upcoming operating system yet. We are hoping that Microsoft will reveal all the features of Windows 11 by the next week.
